Gavin has acted in a number of Proceeds of crime matters including at the High Court. He has also acted in cash seizure matters.

Criminal Defence
-
Gavin has experience defending a wide range of cases, some examples are listed below;
R v H acquittal: mistreatment in a care home. A member of staff a was alleged to have been mistreating elderly and vulnerable persons within their care. This was said to have been witnessed by 3 other members of staff.
R v C Acquittal: s.18 GBH. A male was alleged to have injured two males using a knife on one of them causing injury to his hand.
R v S Acquittal: perverting the course of justice. In this case the defendant was alleged to have fabricated a road rage attempt where a firearm was said to have been brandished resulting in the arrest of two people on Christmas eve.
R v E-S – Acquittal: Possession of a bladed article, assault and threats to kill. In this case it was alleged that a kebab shop owner had threatened a neighbouring shop owner having entered the store and arming himself with a large knife. This was alleged to have been witnessed by a number of people in the store and also in neighbouring shops.
R v I – Acquittal: 2 counts of threats to firebomb a property where the defendant was alleged to have contacted his ex-partner and her mother on separate occasions threatening to firebomb their properties.

Fraud & Financial Crime

R v S – Theft from employer: Gavin persuaded the judge in this occasion to impose a suspended sentence of imprisonment for an employee who had stolen goods to the value of £16,000 from his employer.
R v C – Theft from PTA fund: Gavin successfully managed to persuade the sentencing judge not to impose a sentence of immediate custody where a treasurer stole money belonging to the PTA of a school.

Military & Courts Martial

R v H – Court Martial Acquittal: 4 allegations of assault and mistreatment of soldiers by a senior NCO assaulting soldiers under his control in a training environment.
R v A – successfully persuaded a panel to only impose fine upon a junior NCO for an assault which left a male unconscious and laying in the road after a night out.

Motoring

Gavin has appeared on a number of occasions in both the Magistrates’ court and at appeals in the Crown Court for a complete range of motoring matters.

Dangerous dogs
-
R v H – Dangerous dogs: In this case a dog pulled an elderly male from a mobility scooter and bit him several times. Gavin successfully persuaded the magistrates not to destroy the dog in this instance.
R v V – Dangerous dogs: In this case a dog had bitten another dog and also a person who tried to intervene. Gavin successfully persuaded the magistrates not to destroy the dog despite the owner having a previous conviction for a similar incident
