Tom Worden successfully secured a not guilty verdict for a client who had been accused of smuggling £18.4 million worth of cocaine into the UK. The defendant, driving a lorry loaded with 230kg of Class A drugs, was stopped at Dover docks after crossing the Channel by ferry.

The National Crime Agency presented evidence using GPS data from the defendant’s mobile phones, tracking his route from Algeciras in southern Spain through France, Calais, and into the UK. Despite this, the defendant maintained he was unaware of the drugs in his trailer and opted not to give evidence during the trial.

After deliberation, a jury at Canterbury Crown Court found the defendant not guilty, marking a significant success for Tom Worden, who was instructed by Richard Graham at Graham & Co Solicitors.
