Tom Worden Secures Convictions for a Child Sex Offender

Tom Worden successfully secured convictions of a defendant accused of serious sexual offences against a young girl.

Paul Dupre, 36, was found guilty by a jury of six counts of assault by penetration of a child under 13. The defendant denied the offences and told the jury that the victim had been instructed to make up the allegations.

The jury disbelieved him, and he was convicted following the trial at Chelmsford Crown Court.

Following the convictions, the defendant was found by the judge to be a dangerous offender. He was sentenced to a 12-year extended determinate sentence comprised of a custodial term of 10 years and an extended licence period of 2 years. He was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.

Sentencing took place on 10 January 2025.
