Mozammel Hossain KC & Greg Unwin’s Client was found Not Guilty of Murder

13 August 2025

After an 8-week trial before Mr Justice Spencer, Mozammel Hossain KC and Greg Unwin’s young client was found not guilty of murder by the jury, but guilty of manslaughter.

The defendant had been accused by the prosecution of being the organiser and recruiter for a group knife attack resulting in the death of 17-year old Thomas Taylor in Bedford Town Centre on 8 January 2025. Although the defendant did not give evidence, it was argued on his behalf that the CCTV and mobile phone evidence suggested that his role had been overtaken by the actions of others. By their verdicts, the jury agreed that he did not intend Mr Taylor to be stabbed.

The case is expected to feature in a future episode of the Channel 4 programme – 24 Hours in Police Custody.
