James Onalaja Devises and Delivers Advocacy Training Programme for the International Criminal Court’s Office of Public Counsel for the Defence

James Onalaja, working with the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) Office of Public Counsel for the Defence (OPCD) led the development of OPCD’s advocacy training programme (AdvoLab), devised for junior lawyers on the ICC’s Defence Teams. The ongoing in-person training programme will focus on all aspects of International Criminal Law trial advocacy.

James delivered the inaugural sessions of the AdvoLab training programme on Examination-in-Chief or Direct Examination over a two-week period at the ICC in The Hague in May, alongside ICC Defence Counsel Mylene Dimitri. The AdvoLab training programme continues in The Hague with further sessions to be delivered by various ICC Counsel.
