Sebastian Cox has successfully secured the dismissal of all charges faced by his client in a large multi-handed drug supply case.
The case concerned a major police operation to disrupt a Western Balkan OCG operating within the Brighton & Hove area. Across two properties, Sussex Police recovered a large quantity of cocaine and cannabis, alongside just over £13,000 in cash. Seven individuals were arrested and charged with drug supply and money laundering offences, including Sebastian’s client, a 49-year-old woman of good character. The prosecution relied upon financial links and telephone contact between the co-accused, as well as with the client’s son and daughter who were also found in the address.
After hearing legal argument, the Judge agreed that there was insufficient evidence to allow the case to continue to trial. The prosecution had failed to identify any particular role she had carried out, aside from her merely being in the house when the police attended. The judge took the unusual course of dismissing all of the charges against her.
Sebastian was instructed by Romana Khan of Solomon’s Solicitors.
