Andrew Trollope KC, Rebecca Lee & Henry Hughes Achieve Acquittal in Corruption Trial

28 October 2025

Andrew Trollope KC, Rebecca Lee and Henry Hughes secure not guilty verdicts on all counts for a company and its Director facing allegations of corruption and bribery. The allegations, relating to multi-million pound housing contracts held by the company with the local council between 2004 and 2014, had been made against the company and Director. A police investigation commenced in 2014, and charges were brought seven years later, in November 2021.

Andrew Trollope KC, leading Rebecca Lee, acted for Mr Ashley Parker.

Henry Hughes represented the corporate, KEM Property Services Ltd (“KEM”).

The company and Director had faced a protracted and detailed investigation. The not guilty verdicts were returned on the direction of the Judge following legal arguments advanced by counsel for the defendants.

The trial began on 15 September 2025 with multiple counts of wrongdoing alleged against both the company and its Director spanning nearly a decade. At the conclusion of the Prosecution’s case, Mr Trollope KC and Mr Hughes advanced arguments demonstrating that the prosecution had failed to prove any of the allegations they advanced, and that the trial should not be permitted to continue. Those applications succeeded. The Judge directed the jury to return verdicts of not guilty. The Prosecution applied for time in order to consider an appeal against that ruling but ultimately decided not to do so. On 9 October 2025, formal not guilty verdicts were entered on all counts for both and Mr Ashley Parker and KEM Property Services Ltd, bringing the proceedings to an end. the court also made an order for costs in favour of the clients.
