Ali Dewji Represents the Crown in Rape & False Imprisonment Case Resulting in
24 Convictions

Ali Dewji, being led by Diana Wilson from 36 Group, and instructed by CPS South East RASSO Unit secured convictions on 24 counts, in a 6 week trial, involving 5 complainants.

The case related to controlling and coercive behaviour, violence, false imprisonment, and rape of five women the defendant was in intimate relationships with when he was aged 16-19.

The 6 rape convictions included 1 count prosecuted on the basis of submission, one count prosecuted on the basis of breach of conditional consent and one count prosecuted on the basis of withdrawal of consent during initially consensual sexual activity.

This was a legally and factually complex case involving 31 civilian witnesses. The defendant will be sentenced in July.
