23 April 2024

A group of new graduates, including the defendant, had been celebrating their passing-out as qualified officers. The defendant was convicted of Sexual Assaults and Assault by Penetration of a female officer in a hotel room later that night. His claim of consent was rejected by the jury. The Deputy Chief Constable of Bedfordshire commented “there should be no place in policing for male violence against women … we will continue to take robust action against anyone who betrays the trust and confidence that the public should have in policing”

Wayne is a senior specialist RASSO counsel who regularly undertakes trials involving allegations of the most serious sexual offences. Wayne was instructed by Jemma Montgomery at CPS, East of England.
