Liam Edwards has successfully secured an acquittal for his client at Woolwich Crown Court following a two-week trial. The client had been accused of acting as the getaway driver in a violent, multi-handed armed robbery.
The Crown alleged that in January 2025, a group of four men launched a pre-planned raid on a property in Gillingham. Armed with knives and hammers, the intruders left two occupants with severe injuries.
The incident sparked a major emergency response and a dramatic, high-speed police pursuit assisted by a National Air Support helicopter. The chase culminated in the suspects’ stolen vehicle crashing into a roadside barrier. Following the collision, the occupants fled on foot, sparking a tense, multi-hour standoff on a nearby roof before they were eventually brought down by the fire service.
