Greg Wedge Secures Acquittal of Defendant Charged with Rape

11 August 2023

Greg Wedge secured the acquittal of a defendant charged with a stranger rape after a 2 week trial. The case revolved around the Complainant’s lack of capacity to consent due to the consumption of alcohol.

The matter had gone to a retrial after a jury had previously failed to return a verdict. In between trials the Crown had secured what they said was pivotal additional evidence but after skilful cross examination the way in which this evidence was obtained and the reliability to be placed upon it was challenged in front of the jury.

Greg was instructed by Admire Ncube of Carson Cohen Solicitors.
